Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has said that it is within her rights to support President Uhuru Kenyatta for re-election during the August 8 polls.
She told off those criticising her decision to support Uhuru saying that her decision is both "strategic and deliberate"."Why should people be disturbed about my decision to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and even call it tribal? This is very parochial because I do not hear the same noise when Orengo or even Anyang' Nyong'o support Raila Odinga," Karua told NTV on Monday night.Karua dismissed claims that she had simply 'gone back home' by declaring her support for Uhuru."Yes I have gone back to my home of Kirinyaga County where I'm seeking to be elected governor. I am not prevented from supporting a candidate because he/she comes from my backyard. I support them because I believe they have done something good or they have some desirable values in them," she added. She, however, said that though her party will support Uhuru's re-election, it will field candidates in all the other elective seats across the country.Karua exuded confidence that she will be able to overcome Jubilee wave in Kirinyaga and be elected the first woman governor in the county and country. She brushed off claims that she was jeered in a recent public rally attended by DP William Ruto in Kirinyaga terming it 'friendly fire'.
