Property of undisclosed value was burned down following a mysterious fire at the market, which is located near Likoni police station.
The efforts of the businessmen to put out the fire, which started at around 2 a.m. proved futile. The help of neighbors was equally not enough to salvage the property of the victims until the arrival of the County Fire brigade.
Unfortunately, the fire fighters had empty tanks , and the business watched hopelessly as their property was being razed down into ashes.
Pastor Gitonga, one of the businessmen at the market, said that he lost property worth Sh 500,000 in total.
“The schools reopens next week,I had saved for my children but now I have lost everything,” said Mr. Gitonga, he said, as quoted by Baraka FM.
There was no case of casualty reported following the night fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
