Koma hill is known as a sacred place by the Kamba community and elders in the olden days would arrive to offer sacrifices at the alters.

Kambas believed that mystic powers resided on the hill which is filled with the passion of Christ effigies.

However, the hill has a mysterious history that would live you in awe.

In 1800 BC, there resided a Kamba man called Mwithi who had erected a hut on top of the hill.

His wives are said to have been seeing apparitions while doing their daily activities like fetching firewood among other things.

A white woman holding a baby in her arms would be seen with blinding light shining only to disappear into the clouds.

In 1971, it's said a government contracted company was unable to blast the rocks on the hill. Their machines would break down thus slowing the process whenever they attempted to pull down the rocks.

Apparently, there was an eccentric force preventing the rock from being damaged.

That wasn't all, it's said an Israeli contractor who had pitched a tent at the top of the hill would hear a child wailing while he slept.

The child’s voice would say, “Mom, we will have to leave this place. They are destroying our home."

The mother comforted the child saying, "No, my son. We will continue staying here.”

The trend went on for two more nights.

They downed their tools and left after the contractor shared the story with his colleagues.

A cleansing ceremony was conducted by Catholic priests and the rock was made a Catholic shrine where pilgrims from near and far come to pray and meditate.
