Mystery surrounds the death of a man whose body was found along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway at Ngarariga area, in Kiambu County.
The man was identified as 25-year-old Benson Mwaniki Kuria, a taxi driver with Light Pellican Cabs located in Naivasha.
His body was found this morning with his hands broken and with injuries on his legs and head.
Area residents said they did not see the body in the night, at around 11pm and suspect the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped there.
However, police at the scene alleged the man might have died from a case of a night hit and run.
The police said there was debris of vehicle headlights at the scene which made them suspect it was a hit and run case.
A resident, Ken Wambua said the hit and run was an alibi by the police.
"How does a man who works and lives in Naivasha die in the night many kilometres away from his expected location? Was the man walking around in the middle of the night in an unknown area?" posed Wambua.
He urged the police to investigate what led to the death of the man and also increase patrols in the area especially during the festive season.
The body of the deceased was taken to the City mortuary.
"We will treat the incident as a case of a hit and run until a post-mortem on the body is conducted and the real cause of death known," said Area police boss Alfred Makoma.
