Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is a politician who needs no introduction.
However, his father, Mzee Ali Joho has kept a low profile despite his son being the county boss.
Speaking during a past interview with Citizen TV, Mzee Ali said he supports his son’s career but has always told him to approach certain issues in the political arena calmly.
Mzee Ali described his son as a fierce character who is not afraid of speaking his mind.
He said he always strives to cool the governor down whenever he loses his temper.
"Ukali anao, lakini mimi najaribu kumcool namwambia usifanye ukali, sio vizuri. Wewe ni mwanasiasa. (He is strict, fierce, but I always try to cool him down and tell him to be calm. You are a politician)," said Mzee Joho.
The fierce character, which Joho is said to have inherited from his late mother, explains why the governor is not afraid of locking horns with different politicians, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
