Veteran politician Simeon Nyachae has resurfaced after almost a decade since quitting active politics following his loss in Nyaribari Chache constituency elections in 2007.

Nyachae, who finished third in 2002 presidential race, endured a shocking result when he lost to little known, Robert Monda.

And the former powerful minister, who has kept off politics, on Monday urged Kenyans to maintain peace and brotherhood in this year’s elections.

“I have been in politics for a while and I honestly think we should change our perceptions. Elections should not be a genesis of creating anarchy in the country.

“We have no live together as brothers because our country cannot afford to entertain war. Let politicians be champions of peace,” said Nyachae who only made public appearance when President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Kisii in 2014.

The former political defacto has a close working relationship with Kenyatta and as a result, his son, Charles Nyachae, is Jubilee’s presidential campaign chairman in Nyanza.

Although he has a wide political network, Nyachae’s family has kept off politics until Nyachae Junior, declared Kisii County senatorial seat this year.
