Residents claim that despite protests led by MCA Humprey Mwaniki, the quarry owners have not been able to stop the menace, in which they claim they have received approval form the National Environment Management Authority.

A local resident, who is one of those affected, said the problem started mid last year, near the fence of the Lake Nakuru National Park, when a farm owner started digging up a quarry for sand harvesting for sale.

His wife further claimed that the Lorries arriving and leaving the quarries cause a lot of noise, more especially at night, when residents are trying to rest.

“We’ve been reporting to Mwaniki and the chief but they keep saying it’s being acted upon but nothing has been forthcoming, even though the MCA himself lives there and is one of our neighbours. In fact he’s the ones who chart lorry routes,” she said
