NACADA boss John Mututho today morning said that war against consumption of drugs will continue as a remedy to the unrelenting effects of drugs and substance abuse.

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-day training on Alcohol and drug Abuse (ADA) held at Kisii University.

Mututho noted that the young generation is at stake due to rampant and increased usage, which it has strayed many youths who have chosen to indulge in crime among other things.

“According to NACADA reports, the rate at which youths are abusing drugs is alarming and immediate remedy action is necessary,” said Mututho.

He further encouraged students to be vigilant with their health, as drug and substance abuse has lethal efforts to human body.

“These are lethal to users’ health especially students, and as such they need to take precaution,” added Mututho.

Also present at the event were Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Deputy Vice Chancellor Kisii University Professor Maurice Amutabi, and other county officials.

In his speech, Maangi encouraged the move by Kisii University to fight drug abuse, and said that the county government will spearhead the efforts by offering the necessary support.

“I am happy about the move and I encourage the war against drug abuse and substance. The county government will offer the necessary support,” said Maangi.

Among other activities aligned with this period were sports, and the official launch of the

‘The Kisii University ADA work place policy, 2015’ as a move towards achieving an alcohol and drug free work environment in the University.
