National Agency for Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) has given Sh 4 million to Kisii County Government to help in facilitation of campaigns against drug abuse. Speaking when he met County Minister for Culture and Sports, Moira Omari, Nacada’s Chief Executive Officer, William Okedi, said that they will conduct trainings for health officers in the county on how to rehabilitate people that are alcoholic. “This year we are going to work with Kisii County and we are giving them Sh 4M to give to civil society organisations to educate people in the villages,” he said. He added that Nacada will work closely with the county government to ensure that treatment and the rehabilitation facility has started working immediately. The County Minister for Culture and Sports also assured the CEO that they will work together to make sure drug abuse in the county has ended. Omari however, called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to help them get back the rehabilitation centre land that is allegedly grabbed by a private developer in Kisii. “We as the county government are still pursuing a rehabilitation land that is grabbed and we are soon calling on the EACC to help us find out the state in which the land was grabbed,” said Omari.
