Thika town member of parliament Patrick Wainaima alias Wajungle has said that the role of fighting illicit brews should be left entirely to the National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada).Wainaina has said that the county administration has totally failed to fight the vice. He has accused the administration of being reactive rather than proactive."Where this issue of illicit brews has reached, I feel that the chiefs and the county administration cannot be entrusted anymore to eliminate the problem," said Wainaina. He added, "We only see them rush after people have died after drinking the brews when the other times they are just lazing around," the MP said. The MP says that NACADA should be empowered more and also be provided with police officers under its control."Just as we have port police, council askaris and others, it is the same way Nacada should operate,'' he said in Thika town on Monday.
