Nacada Chairman John Mututho who addressed the media in Nakuru on Monday said that the agency is in the process of procuring test machines to be used to ascertain the quality of more than 3,300 samples of liquor currently in their hands.

''All samples that will be found to have not reached the standard will be blacklisted from the market,” said Mututho.

Mututho added that the agency is aware of a Chinese investor who has been blending liquor in his country and later exporting the same to be consumed in Kenya.

“Proper action will be taken against him,'' said Mututho.

Mututho further warned clubs operating past 11pm saying the law will be used ruthlessly against establishments found breaching the alcohol laws.

He further reminded liquor manufacturers that they will be made to compensate those who die for consuming harmful products from their firms. He added that the compensation is a constitutional provision under section 46 of the constitution.

Article 46 of Kenya Constitution (1) says, that consumers have the right:- (a) to goods and services of reasonable quality; (b) to the information necessary for them to gain full benefit from goods and services; (c) to the protection of their health, safety, and economic interests; and (d) to compensation for loss or injury arising from defects in goods or services.
