National Authority Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) will import special implants at a cost of Sh90 million to help in rehabilitation programme.
NACADA chairman John Mututho said that the money will go towards purchasing of implants that have been used to rehabilitate people in the developed countries.
“We intend to start the pilot program soon and analyse proper strategies on how to rehabilitate youths who have been approaching us seeking for rehabilitation services,” said Mututho.
Mututho noted that this will be an all time plan.
“We will literally clean all the addicts. After which we will wash their system, talk to them and give them advanced medicine to help curb the relapse,” says Mututho.
Mututho pointed out that lack of compassionate treatment as the main cause of relapse in alcoholics.
“We need to understand that addicts are Kenyans some of them are our brothers, sons and parents,” he noted.
“We will incorporate a brain expert, a nutritionist who will help us deal with the hormonal imbalance in the addicts. We will also get an expert to help those with broken bones,” said Mututho.
Mututho noted that 80 percent of Kenyans are addicted to alcohol and drugs.
“The project which is in conjunction with the Inspector General and the National Youth Service will reach out to people who have given up in life,” said Mututho.
