He said that the area in the recent years has experienced drought yet the residents rely on farming. The chairman added that the Nachu Dam was constructed by the county government but supplies water to a large group of farmers hence the need to construct more dams since one dam cannot sustain all of them.

Wachira mentioned that farmers in the area depend on farming as a source of living and without enough water they end up suffering and struggling in the field of farming. "Water is very important when it comes to farming and that’s why as farmers we had to look for alternatives to ensure farming will be efficient in the area. We appreciate the efforts by the county government to construct the Nachu dam in the area but we are appealing to them to construct two more dams in order to curb the water shortage experienced in the area,” said Wachira.

MaryNyokabi, a farmer, said that water has been a major problem in their farming activities and the only way to curb the issue is through water conservation.

She said that the Nachu Dam has been helpful to the farmers but it cannot sustain all of them since the dam serves a large area.
