The Nakuru County University Students Association (NACUSA) has distanced itself from demo that had been planned for Wednesday morning in Nakuru.

Speaking Joseph Kariuki, the NACUSA chairman said theirs is the legally registered group and that the one calling for the demo comprises of impostors.

“We and the comrades do not recognise this group. Those leading this group are no longer students in the university and they claim to have founded the group in 2009. How can a group founded in 2009 when there were no counties claim to represent students from Nakuru County,” wondered Kariuki.

The group had called for demos starting from the Nakuru Railways grounds ostensibly to condemn the way Cord is demanding for the disbandment of IEBC.

In a letter to the police chiefs in three police stations; Central, Bondeni and Railways, the convener of the demo had claimed they intend to hold a peaceful demo.

“We the youth abhor the village-like manner/roadside populist of demanding for ‘reforms’ in IEBC as witnessed by the opposition. It is because of such political leadership, run-away corruption, and yokes of negative ethnicity among other ills bedeviling the country that we have come together,” read part of the letter sent to police chiefs.

The NACUSA chairman also revealed that they are following with the Bondeni police station OCS to find out whether the group produced their certificate of registration when they sent their request.

“There is no way the registrar can register two groups with the same name and if the group produced a certificate with the NACUSA name, we want investigations to ascertain the authenticity of such a certificate,” said Kariuki.
