Kabete MP  Ferdinand Waititu has asked police to intensify search of thugs who allegedly invaded and stole property worth millions at the Blood of Christ Ministries Church in Wangige on Monday night.

The MP wants the police to ensure the thugs involved in the raid are arrested and stolen property recovered.

He said that cases of thugs invading and stealing from the churches are increasing in the area.

The MP urged law enforcers to act tough on criminals causing havoc in the area.

“Law enforcers must stamp their authority and ensure that criminal gangs who cause havoc are arrested and taken to court,” he said when he addressed locals at Wangige shopping centre on Wednesday.

The Kabete MP said that police have the required resources to nail down criminals. He stated that acts of crime should not be tolerated within Kabete.

On Monday a gang of ten men allegedly invaded the Blood of Christ Church in Wangige and stole property worth millions.

According to Kabete Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Leonard Mgute, the thugs invaded the church at 11 Pm Monday night, tied the guard and made away with property worth millions.

The DCC in a briefing with journalists on Tuesday also said that the thugs set ablaze the church after the robbery.

“Police investigation into the incident is underway and the culprits will be arrested soon,” said the Kabete DCC.

The DCC said that police have crucial leads that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

He added that police have launched a search for the guard who has since gone missing.

According to the Church pastor, the thugs made away with three microphones valued at Sh250, 000 each, sound mixer and three speakers both worth Sh1 Million.

The incident has left locals in shock with calls to police reinforce security.

According to police at least 27 cases of robberies targeting churches have been reported across Kiambu county since the beginning of the year.
