Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has been asked not to allow City Hall to conduct any business with garbage collection companies which failed in the past to clean up the city.

Utalii MCA John Ochola told Sonko that these companies will still let him down as he begins his quest to rid the city of garbage.

“They are companies that have been here doing nothing but swindling money from the county," he said.

"So the best way is to kick them out,” Ochola added while speaking to journalists at City Hall on Tuesday.

He added that unscrupulous cartels have been operating ghost companies in the cleaning department and are now trying to find favour with the new governor again.

“An audit of all these companies must be conducted because some don’t even exist yet you see people moving around pushing for their payments on a daily basis," Ochola said.
