Nairobi city is in darkness after a massive power outage.
The outage began at 7pm and is currently affecting the city and its environs.
According to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), the outage was caused by a 'system disturbance'.
“A power system disturbance led to loss of electricity supply to most parts of Nairobi and adjacent areas,” KPLC said in a statement.
They added that their engineers were working to identify and rectify the fault.
The statement, however, did not specify which adjacent areas of the city were being affected by the outage.
Industrial consumers in the city account for about 60 percent of all the power consumed in the country.
