A 24-year-old Nairobi businessman has been arraigned before a Thika court charged with defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old secondary school student.
The accused, Ali Hussein Ibrahim, appeared before the Thika acting Principal Magistrate Walter Onchuru but denied the charges. He was released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.
Ibrahim is charged that on diverse dates between April 1 and 2 of September this year in Isiolo town and Makongeni estate within Thika town, he knowingly lured the young girl into a relationship with him and consequently impregnated her. He allegedly went further to convince her to procure an abortion.
Prosecuting chief inspector Francis Kimani told the court that the accused person had lured the girl to Thika from her home in Isiolo with an intention of procuring an abortion, but the girl afraid for her life, informed her uncle who works in Meru and together with police officers played along with organising to procure an abortion.
The police, under the guidance of the girl’s uncle, secretly followed the couple to a Thika clinic where the said abortion was to be carried out and arrested both the complainant and the accused person.
The girl was however released after it emerged that she was a minor and the accused arraigned in court.
The case will be continue on November 23.
