Nairobi is expecting major traffic snarl-ups starting 6.00pm on Saturday June 24 up to the following day following closure of major roads.
This is in a bid to allow for the offloading of power transformers and cable wire among other equipment to be used in upgrading the Cathedral Kenya Power Station on Uhuru highway.
Most affected during that period will be Uhuru Highway, Mombasa Road, Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway.
Authorities have advised motorists to avoid the roads on the two days.
Nairobi County secretary Robert Ayisi published a public notice informing motorists on the temporary closure and giving alternative routes.
Vehicles moving from Chiromo to Uhuru Highway will use the Globe Cinema roundabout route into the CBD while those from Nyerere Road and targetting to use Uhuru Highway will be diverted to University Way to the Globe Cinema Roundabout before they find a way to the CBD.
Motorists from on Mombasa Road going to Chiromo will get a diversion at Uhuru Highway and Kenyatta Avenue roundabout before finding their way to Kenyatta Avenue
