The Nairobi business community has come out to defend Nairobi governor Mike Sonko against the ongoing drama.
The group comprising of matatu operators, bodaboda riders, hawkers and juakali artisans have asked Kenyans to give the governor time to deliver.
“The governor has been in the office in less than a year and Nairobi cannot be turned in one day, in my view the governor should be given more time to show what he can do,“ said Association of Matatu Operators spokesman John Methu during a press conference in Nairobi.
The group will also be heading to Kigali, Rwanda for a benchmarking to go and learn how they can run Nairobi better.
The group also expressed their trust in the governor saying that he started performing before he was elected as the governor.
“We as bodaboda riders trust that Nairobi is in good hands, we have all accepted Sonko as our governor and he is going to live when we say so” quoted Kelvin Onyango Bodaboda operators spokesperson.
Bodaboda operators and hawkers among those who have clashed harshly with the governor but some of them now seem to be supporting him.
Governor Sonko seems to be getting a lot of rejection since he nominated Miguna to be his deputy with the recent political shock landing the governor in court after a voter moved to sue him for the nomination.
