Kibagendi’s support comes after Kisii Governor James Ongwae and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire pledged to sustain opposition’s campaign in the swing counties of Kisii and Nyamira.

The Kitutu Chache South parliamentary aspirant said he will launch Odinga’s 2017 presidential bid in a colorful roadshow that will culminate at Gusii stadium on Sunday.

“Time has come for us to make Raila’s bid serious and this needs some of us to make a sacrifice. I am willing to take charge of Gusii. My immediate task will be mobilizing youths to register in numbers,” he said on a Facebook post.

“I will launch the Odinga’s Gusii campaign officially on Sunday where we shall have roadshow before convening at Gusii stadium for a rally,” added Kibagendi.

Kibagendi is expected to face a stiff challenge from incumbent Richard Onyonka, former Mayor Samuel Omwando and embattled IT mogul Don Bosco Gichana who is held in Arusha prison over alleged money laundering.
