Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi is facing impeachment as MCAs prepare ouster motion citing abuse of office.

It is alleged that fights over the tender for the speakers' residence and claims of corruption are fuelling the row between Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi and Clerk Jacob Ngwele.

The row over Speaker Elachi new over Sh150 million house almost brought near fistfight in the presence of journalists at City Hall.

Waithaka MCA Mr Anthony Kiragu is set to table the impeachment motion he has also raised concerns about conflict of interest and undermining the authority of the County Assembly Service Board.

In his notice of motion to the Speaker, Kiragu says that Elachi's actions have caused the assembly "great embarrassment and brought the Office of the Speaker into disrepute, contrary to the gamut of laws on the conduct of state officers of her caliber".
