Residents of Kibera in Nairobi have challenged the county government to find means of conserving flood water for future use.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, the residents said that a lot of water is going to waste yet some parts of the city lack enough water.
"Informal settlement areas like Kibera are not supplied with enough water yet at the moment, we have a lot of water. The county government should find a way of saving this water so that it can benefit us in the future," said Moses Odhiambo.
The residents said it is ironic how currently water is everywhere but within few months, a number of people will lack water.
"We should set our priorities right in the first place. Water shortage in the future for Nairobi should be a thing of the past. The county government has the capacity to conserve this water," said Monicah Amisi.
They also questioned the county governments’ preparedness in managing natural diameters such as floods.
"We all know rains will be us soon, and now they are here it is unfortunate that lives have and property has been lost. This should not happen again as it is something preventable and there is no excuse for it," said Stephen Kavai.
