The Nairobi county government is on the spot over the existence of secret bank accounts operated without the knowledge of MCAs.
Robert Mbatia, Budget, and Appropriations Committee chairman revealed that the county had 31 bank accounts with some being opened in an unprocedural manner.
Four of the accounts are held at the Central Bank of Kenya, with the other 27 in various commercial banks.
Investigations are ongoing to establish how accounts were opened without the approval of the relevant County Assembly Committee.
''There seems to be a duplication of accounts and we have asked the executive to give facts so that we can establish what activities have been done with the accounts.'' Mr. Mbatia was quoted by the Standard newspaper.
