Health officials in Nairobi County have moved in to assure city residents that there are no cases that have been reported on the prevalence of either hepatitis or influenza.
City dwellers had expressed their worries following reports that there was a possible outbreak of the two named ailments.
During a press release on Monday at the City Hall, the county health executive, Muia Bernard confirmed that the city is healthy and not close to any disease outbreak. He, however, challenged the public to maintain good hygiene as it is the only way of preventing contagious diseases.
On its part, the City Council of Nairobi has acknowledged that it is in the process of draining waterlogged and blogged tunnels, especially during this rainy season so as to avert looming water-borne infections.
As a surveillance measure, Nairobi residents have been told to report any case or strange symptoms to the nearest health centres for necessary action to be taken.
Cases of hepatitis were reported in Nakuru County in the past one week, with 39 children succumbing to the disease.
