Anyone who intends to do business with the county government of Nairobi and expects to use unorthodox means to win tenders is in for a rude shock, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said.
Sonko said the tendering process will be done in a transparent way and everyone will have an equal opportunity during the process.
“My administration has already advertised for garbage collection contracts which shall be transparently awarded at the Ward level to be managed by area MCAs," Sonko said Saturday.
“To ensure effective garbage collection, each ward shall be allocated a truck and necessary equipment. Youth groups within their respective wards are encouraged to bid to undertake garbage collection.”
He said one of his priority areas in the next five years as county chief will be to ensure Nairobi regains its lost glory as one of Africa’s cleanest cities.
Sonko has consistently accused his predecessor Evans Kidero of running down the city.
