According to Governor Evans Kidero, the county's workforce has been the major block towards achieving the development agenda.

"The huge workforce guzzles up 78 per cent of all our revenue leaving very little for development. We need only 7000 workers," said Kidero.

The county boss was speaking in Mombasa on Tuesday during the official opening of a four-days workshop by the County Select Committee on Implementation.

He added that the huge workforce coupled up with a slow release and allocation of funds had made it difficult for the county to move ahead with its development agenda.
