Residents of the expansive Nairobi County have been informed to brace for acute water shortage in the next few days.
This is as a result of the heavy rains that are being witnessed in the city.
Nairobi County governor, Evans Kidero, on Sunday took to his Facebook page to break the news to the city residents. Kidero said the water shortage was brought about by heavy run away water along city drainage systems and Nairobi River that washed away the water pipelines feeding various city estates.
As a result, parts of Dandora phase one and two, parts of Kibera, Huruma, Buruburu, Outering and Embakasi village will suffer water shortage. The county boss appealed the public to be patient as the county engineers have been tasked to conduct necessary repairs and installations.
Since the onset of April rains, Nairobi has been hard hit with the most tragic incident being in Huruma where close to fifty people perished as dozens left homeless.
The Huruma incident occurred after a building collapsed, with reports indicating that the structure had not met construction thresholds.
