Nairobi residents are now expected to receive quick services when fires break out in town.
This is all thanks to the Ministry of Lands which distributed fire fighting equipment to four counties worth nearly sh160 million on Wednesday in order to address disasters effectively.
Among the counties set to benefit are Kiambu, Machakos, Nairobi and Murang’a which shared out the commissioned equipment including fire engines and water tanks as disasters and fires have become common in the developing regions.
The cabinet secretary of Lands, Jacob Kaimenyi commissioned five fire fighting vehicles, each worth sh25 million with a capacity to carry about 5, 000 litres of water; three water bowers (mobile water tanks) with a capacity of 10, 000 litres of water and each worth at least sh6.3 million as well as four double cabin pickups worth about sh3.9million.
“These outbreaks cannot be contained unless we have an engine that can respond quickly that’s why we need them to be ready for fire,” he said.
He said this will help the county governments calm fire emergencies at any time as the machines hold the latest technology.
