Governor Evans Kidero on the other hand has expressed confidence that he had done enough to warrant his re-election during the August polls.

It gets murky for the ruling coalition, which is yet to identify its flag bearer for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, with infighting evident as rival camps match up.

Team Nairobi side led by Senator Mike Sonko claims it has what it takes to clinch the seat and wants other aspirants in the party to join them.

Sonko and his team continued faulting former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, accusing him of using unfair tactics.

“There are some MPs who have been bought, and they are endorsing candidates for Nairobi locals, we won’t allow that,” said Sonko.

“We will go all the way to the ballot, and one of us will be the Nairobi Governor,” he added.

“Someone said that I have withdrawn my candidature for another person, I want to tell him to be more innovative,” said Dennis Waweru.

Team Nairobi has labeled Kenneth as a late comer who is positioning himself at the favoured one.

They spoke during a church service in Roysambu area on Sunday, and were joined by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

The race for Nairobi’s top seat has attracted over five aspirants, and promises to be a grueling contest with only seven months to go to the polls.
