Information Communication and Technology Minister Joe Mucheru have today, Tuesday officially opened the Nairobi Innovation week.

Speaking at the event, Mucheru said the country is in the right direction when it comes to investing in different ventures including startups.

He further urged investors to fully put their resources in the local market

“Investing in Kenyan startups has a huge return. These innovations are not for startups only, they are also for those looking for places to invest and get a good return,” he said.

He further revealed that his ministry, under the president’s agenda for the next five years, will foster growth in the industry to ensure there is more job creation.

“We hope that with this innovation week we are going to see the participation of everybody because it will drive the president’s agenda, which will, in turn, improve our lives,” he added.

He also revealed plans to set up a taskforce in the next one week, which will bring together young investors who can take the issue with zeal.

“If you feel you believe you have a lot to offer in that space, send me your CV and proposal and you can be part of the team. It will drive our visibility, transparency, and innovation,” he added.
