This is according to Governor Mike Sonko.

Speaking on Monday, the governor said that the various development programmes he has put into place are aimed at turning around the image of the city.

He dismissed critics who say his works are a PR exercise, arguing that more was in the offing to see the city thrive again.

"Wanao sema ni PR watashanga very soon. Liwe liwalo mji wetu lazima ungare," he said.

This translates as: "Critics saying it is a PR stunt will be surprised very soon. Whatever happens, our city must shine again."

"Lights zote ziwake, barabara zitengenezwe na zirepaintiwe, maua ipandwe, cartels za maji na muggers jela, hawkers watolewe CBD pole pole, matatus zitolewe busy roads kama Moi Avenue. Garbage lazima iendelee kutolewa kila siku. More to follow on other sectors," he added.
