An analysis of the just released KCSE exams has revealed that Nairobi led in the number of overage candidates.
The other counties were Kilifi and Kakamega.
According to the study, the three recorded the highest number of candidates aged 23 and above.
Nairobi recorded 1,470 candidates while Kilifi and Kakamega had 1,457 and 1,285 candidates aged above 23 respectively.
According to Education CS Fred Matiang’i, the three counties also recorded the highest number of such candidates in last year's exam.
They were followed by Bungoma which had 1,141 candidates aged above 23, Homa Bay (819), Busia (814), Kisii (698), Trans Nzoia (695), Kitui (669), Nandi (625), Makueni (592), Machakos (591) and Kiambu (422).
