Emirates Airlines has listed Nairobi as one of its top routes in Africa alongside South Africa and Egypt.

According to the companies senior vice president in Africa, Orphan Abbas, Kenya has one of the top markets in Africa. However, they did raise concerns over the prolonged election period and  political tension.

“The political environment in Kenya this year was raising concern for us. However, we expect the mood to settle down and business situation to improve,” he said in an interview as reported by The Star.

The airline currently offers two daily passenger flights to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) along with a cargo trip to the Eldoret International Airport.

Kenya is one of three countries in Africa that is offered double daily services by Emirates. Mauritius and Seychelles are the other two and the carrier has announced plans to offer double daily services to Nigeria starting in December.

Abbas insists Africa's 'skies needs to open up' so as to boost business and be at par with the rest of the world.

He maintains that if the continent can manage to come to a consensus on all bilateral agreements then there will be a bright future ahead.
