Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has dismissed the resignation of Polycarp Igathe, terming it inconsequential.

Speaking on Thursday in Kiambu, Sonko said he is only concerned with delivering for the people of Nairobi and will not be dragged into Igathe’s controversy.

He further maintains that he had a good working relationship with Igathe, and his decision to resign was only personal since he was not fired.

“I don’t want to comment on that for now (Igathe’s resignation), it is a none issue to me. I did not fire him, he decided to fire himself,” he said.

He added: “I want to assure Nairobi residents that they have nothing to worry about, we will serve them,”

The MCAs present further assured residents that they will support SOnko in his service delivery for the Nairobi locals.

“We did not have any issue with the deputy governor resigning. We are with the governor as MCAs because we want to develop the city of Nairobi,” said one of the MCAs.

Igathe resigned two weeks ago, after his working relationship with SOnko went sour, bringing an end to a relationship many said would not last.
