Residents of Mariakani estate in Nairobi's South B have been dealt a blow after their MCAs turned against them in a settlement dispute.
The residents suffered the blow after the county leadership failed to assist them in the Assembly's decision to okay a controversial house ownership deal signed in 2013.
In the deal, the county swapped the houses with a loan it had taken from Local Authorities Provident Fund (Lapfund).
Even though the residents later moved to court in 2015, their leaders have gone against their hope by not pushing from their side
But in defence, the MCAs claimed that they had no power in the dispute.
“The county government should not lay any claim against Mariakani Estate since the property was properly transferred to the Lapfund as part of the settlement of the debt owed to the pension fund,” said the MCAs.
