Nairobi county assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has threatened to declare vacant the seats for MCAs who will miss sessions 8 times without permission.
Elachi said she will play her roles in accordance with the law.
"I will declare vacant any ward seat if an MCA skips more than eight plenary sittings without justified permission," Elachi said.
She said she will also keep track of hours members spend in the House.
"All members are registered in the bio-metric system to record their attendance. This will guide the House on time management to ensure proper legislative and oversight roles for all the members" she said
Elachi said absenteeism in the previous assembly affected the activities of the House and she will not allow members skip sittings.
She said at least a third of the 122 members are needed for the House to carry out its business
