A middle aged man was on Wednesday morning shot by unknown gunmen in a robbery incident outside the Public Service Club in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

Confirming the incident, police said the man had been trailed by three gangsters on a motorcycle after he withdrew money from an M-Pesa shop at Kenyatta National Hospital and was suspected to be going to the bank.

The gangsters shot the victim three times along Mara Road before stealing from him an unknown amount of money.

According to Nairobi Regional Coordinator Bernarnd Leparmarai, the man sustained bullet wounds on the head and the stomach.

He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital. 

Investigations into the incident are underway.
