The Nairobi-Mombasa highway is set for expansion in the near future after the US company contracted by the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) completes the design work.
KeNHA has already contracted Bechtel International Inc to construct the 473km high-speed expressway.
The key financiers include US Export Credit Agencies like the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the US Export-Import Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
The expressway is expected to reduce the journey time from 10 hours to about four.
Notable about its design is that it will have four lanes with enough provision to expand to six lanes.
