The event known as the chapati fest is organised annually to call on members of the public to cook chapatis which are given to the street families.

All other street children from the surrounding small towns like Westlands, Kangemi, Dandora and many more made sure they were in the city centre to have a taste of the chapatis.

The event took place at Nairobi Parklands Primary School where more than 500 street children were served with food. The chapatis were served with beans.

Morris Mwendwa, said this was one of their best days since most of the times they go hungry. He thanked members of the public for stretching their helping hands to the poor street children.

Another who identified herself as Maria, called on the public to treat them as fellow human beings. She said they are sometimes treated cruelly by the public.
