Nairobi residents are bracing for two days of dry taps for maintenance work.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) announced Tuesday that it will shut down its plant from Thursday 6am to Friday 6pm to allow for maintenance.
They said the Gigiri reservoir outlet valve will be reinstalled following failure that recently resulted in interrupted supply.
Annual scheduled maintenance work at the Ngethu treatment plant and the transmission pipeline between Ngethu and Gigiri reservoirs will also take place.
"The maintenance will enhance production of water ensuring effective distribution within the city and its environs," the company said in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday.
The following are the areas that will be affected:
The whole of city centre, University of Nairobi main campus, Coca-Cola factory,
JKIA , EPZ- Athi River
Areas along Mombasa Road: South B, South C and neighbourhoods
The whole of Industrial Area
Areas along Juja road, Mlango Kubwa, Mathare, Eastleigh Air Force base, Huruma, Kariobangi, Pangani, Eastleigh
Areas along Jogoo road, Maringo, Buruburu, Bahati and surrounding areas
Areas along Outering road: Baba Dogo, Dandora, Umoja, Donholm, Fedha, Tassia, Avenue Park
Areas along Kang’undo road: Ruai, Kayole, Komarock, Njiiru
Areas along Thika road: Kenya Breweries, Kenyatta University, Kahawa Barracks, Kasarani
Areas along Limuru road: Parklands, Ngara, Aga Khan Hospital, Muthaiga
Karen, Mountain view, Naivasha road, Kangemi, Satelite, Kawangware, Waithaka and surrounding areas.
City residents were urged to use stored water sparingly.
