Nairobi will host this year's Jamhuri Day celebrations.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will be leading the nation to celebrate the 53rd anniversary at Moi Sports Complex Kasarani on December 12.

The president will be returning to the same venue where he was sworn-in a fortnight ago.

Key among expectations in the president's first official national celebration in his second term will be to see how he has laid out his development plan for the next five years.

There will also be attention on how he treats the opposition as today's celebrations come less than 48 hours after NASA leader Raila Odinga cancelled his planned swearing in.
