Nairobi city will host the 14th United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as confirmed by foreign affairs and international trade cabinet secretary, Amina Mohammed.
Ms Mohammed said the conference will provide a unique opportunity for the organisation to build its legacy to address the future of development. She revealed that the session will also address the recent global and financial crisis as well as the slowdown in international trade. She also said UNCTAD seeks to promote trade as an engine of development in developing countries which seek to be put on a global economy.
UNCTAD secretary General, Mukhisa Kituyi was assured by the cabinet secretary that the conference will be successful.
The conference is set to be held from 17-22 July this year at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
The CS said the conference will deliver its theme of ‘from decision to action: moving towards an inclusive and equitable global economic environment for trade and development’ because the conference will be a multi- stakeholder event which will incorporate the youth forum, civil society forum and UNCTAD world investment forum.
