As other regions across the country will be experiencing a strong heatwave this year, Nairobi will be among the few regions that will continue to experience a cool weather.
According to reports from weatherman Peter Ambenje, bursts of extreme heat will this year hit regions in northern Kenya this month in what could trigger the weather condition.
“The expected high daytime time temperatures (30 - 40°C) in Northwestern and Northeastern parts of the country may give rise to heat waves that are a potential health risk,” said the head of meteorological services on Wednesday in a month-long forecast.
He however exempted the capital from these adverse weather conditions saying it would see cooler winds together with regions in the west and central.
“A few areas in western Kenya, especially those to the south of the Lake Victoria and the southern parts of central Rift Valley are, however, likely to experience occasional light to moderate rainfall that may occasionally spread to the central region including Nairobi,” Ambenje said.
“However, there is a possibility of one or two days of light to moderate rainfall that may emanate from western Kenya,” he added.
A heatwave is a period marked by abnormally and uncomfortably hot and humid weather.
