Rough Guides, rated Paris 9 (France), Isfahan (Iran) and Nairobi as the top three cities in the world respectively, to visit this year.

The guide says that Nairobi, Africa’s fastest-growing metropolis and the beating heart of the continent’s largest economy, has for too long been overlooked.

The travel publisher urged visitors to not only visit the palm-fringed beaches and national parks, but to also make time to explore the city.

“You will find a dynamic urban landscape with cool restaurants, groundbreaking art projects and a burgeoning fashion scene,” Rough Guides urges travellers.

Other cities that made it into the list include, from fourth to tenth, Bristol (England), Antwerp (Belgium), Medellin (Colombia), Atlanta (US), Osaka (Japan), Guadalaja (Mexico) and Palma (Mallorca).
