[Photo/nation.co.ke]Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has hit out at Governor Mike Sonko over the Christmas tree he lit on Friday night.Passaris argues that millions spend on the Christmas tree lit by governor Sonko in presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday night was a waste.Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Saturday,  Passaris said that the Christmas tree was not a priority.She indicated that Nairobians are facing many challenges that the governor needs to address and not spending millions on unnecessary things."Nairobi residents need water, security, good roads, garbage needs to be collected from the streets and governor Sonko should understand that and stop wasting taxpayers money on Christmas tree and other unplanned projects," she said.The ODM  Nairobi Women Rep asked Kenyans to be vigilant and tame elected leaders who are out to embezzle their taxes.She said that some governors are misusing taxpayers cash by funding unprioritised projects.Sonko lit the Nairobi Christmas tree on Friday night accompanied by president Kenyatta where they wished Nairobians and other Kenyans merry Christmas and Happy New Year.Other governors among them Mombasa's Hassan Joho have also lit Christmas tree as a symbol of welcoming the festive season.
