Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has condemned the arrest of Ruaraka MP T.J Kajwang terming it an act of intimidation by the Jubilee government.
Passaris says that Kajwang's arrest is the violation of the constitution on people's rights, noting that the lawmaker has done nothing to warrant arrest.
Speaking to journalists outside the Nairobi PCIO offices on Wednesday, Passaris accused the Jubilee government of using intimidation tactics to stop the opposition's electoral reforms agenda.
She said that NASA leader Raila Odinga's Tuesday swearing in was legal and well backed by the constitution, noting that arresting opposition politicians over the swearing in won't change things.
"The government must stop this nonsense of intimidating opposition leaders through unwarranted arrests," she said.
Passaris , a vocal ODM MP asked the Jubiee government to immediately release Kajwang and leave the opposition alone.
She said that Raila's Tuesday swearing in as the people's president has frightened president Uhuru Kenyatta's adminstration.
Passaris said that they will not be cowardiced or allow to be intimidated by a regime that is allegedly illegitimately in power.
The Nairobi women's rep asked NASA supporters and Kenyans to remain peaceful assuring them that the journey to electoral reforms, justice and rule of law is unstoppable.
Kajwang was arrested on Wednesday by flying squad officers for taking a leading role in Raila Odinga's Tuesday swearing in as the people's president at Uhuru Park.
The Ruaraka MP is expected to be arraigned in court today with the government vowing to crackdown on opposition leaders and politicians plus sympathizers who organised for Raila's Tuesday inauguration it had termed highly treasonous.
A section of opposition MPs who stormed Nairobi Police Commanders office where Kajwang was being grilled were teargassed as they sought his release.
