Kenya is among the leading nations in Africa that have embraced the value of technology in the various social sites.
The country has been placed 4th in Africa, following a ranking of countries whose citizens had posted more tweets in 2015. The country posted 76 million records of geolocated tweets.
In an international report released by The Portlands Communications on Wednesday, Egypt was placed the first in Africa with close to 450 million tweets, followed by Nigeria with 350 million then Ghana with 325 million tweets. Part of the report read stated that generally about 1.6 billion of geolocated tweets in Africa in the year ended December 2015 which was a 34-fold rise from the initial research in 2012.
The report was released by Mark Flanagan, who is the Portlands partner for digital and content strategy and further indicated that #Kenya was the most widely shared hashtag in recorded in Africa.
International online Twitter wars have surfaced to become something sort of a sport among many African countries, with Kenyans being aggressive in attacking countries that paint the country negatively in the global limelight.
Last year, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) posted the hashtag #SomeoneTellCNN to express their anger against the international television network for referring to Kenya as a hotbed of terrorism at a time when the country was expecting the US president, Barack Obama.
Nairobi was named home of tech hub of Africa in April 2015 despite its 40 percent unemployment rate.
