Transport in parts of Nairobi’s Eastlands has stalled after a major PSV sacco plying the route grounded its vehicles as a result of internal leadership wrangles.
This means that areas between Bahati and Buruburu will experience delays in transport after C-BET Sacco employees stopped working and parked their matatus outside Buruburu police divisional headquarters.
The workers are said to be protesting over frustration by an official who was earlier ousted from office.
T-BET Sacco Vice chairman Wandore Chege confirmed the developments saying that they had withdrawn their Town-Bahati-Buruburu route matatus after ousted chairman Henry Mathembo allegedly caused havoc in the management.
“He sent a message to employees including route managers to return sacco uniforms, badges and radio calls. He also plucked off TLB (Transport Licensing Board) stickers from the new chairman's minibus,” said Chege as reported by the Star.
“We are fearing that goons could take over our stage in town,” he added.
According to the Star, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has already embarked on probing the matter.
