Nairobi has become a major crime scene where bandits are active 24/7 robbing civilians of their valuables.
The National Police Service (NPS) came up with a report where they stated the top five most dangerous regions in Nairobi County.
The crime hot spots report shows the various regions in the county where crimes are usually committed, the type of crimes happening in these areas and the times they usually occur.
1. Kamukunji.
In Kamukunji the most dangerous areas include, Mlango Kubwa, Majengo, Huruma Grounds, Eastleigh (Desai Road Section 3 and 7), Mathare North, Kiamaiko, Ngara near Railway quarters and Equity Bank, Kasarani.
Here the most reported crimes include armed robbery, snatching of car accessories, mugging, luggage stealing, assault, drug peddling, gender-based violence, kidnapping and break-ins.
According to the NPS, between 6pm to 5am the crime rates are high.
2. Lang’ata.
In Lang'ata the most dangerous areas include Kibera slums where this is a massive number of thugs, Bombolulu, Migingo, Salama, Karanja Road, Kiandaa (dark alley), Lindi, Line Saba and environs of Highrise.
According to NPS, the most reported crimes are theft, armed robbery, and assault.
The National Police survey stated that there is no particular time where these crimes happen but they happen through the day and night.
3. Makadara.
What is shocking is that in Makadara area there is a law court but the area is known to be very insecure. The places to watch out for in the area are Jericho, Mutindwa, Makongeni-Likoni Road Bridge, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Kiambiu, Katulo Road, Uhuru junction, Mukuru Fauta bridge, Mukuru kwa Reuben, Harambee, South B near the bridge and South C near fly over.
This is one area that thrives in theft, assault, armed robbery, trading in small arms and light weapons, sexual gender-based violence, carjacking and kidnapping.
Most of the crimes occur in between 6pm – 5am.
4. Dagoretti
In this area, the most dangerous areas include Kawangware, Kosovo, Ndunyu, Maumau, Kiana, Waithaka kwa Ng’ang’a, Kabiria, Mlango soko and Ndwaru road.
Most reported crimes are drug peddling, trading in small arms and light weapons, theft of motorcycles, dumping of dead bodies and armed robbery.
The time to be on the lookout in these areas is from 6pm – 3am.
